Bass Chasin in Ohio report for New London Reservoir

New london is located southeast of New London itself. Take route 20 west to 60 south and follow the signs to the lake.

We fished this lake on the Sept 1st a Saturday. Got here about 11:00. Our usual early start! We spoke with a lake veteran who said it is an excellent smallie lake and contains nice size walleye as well. He was nice enough to give us some tips on the lake as we got ready to launch our less than spectacular boat, once again. Him and others felt a big cold front rolling through had hurt the fishing but we had no choice regarding that. He turned out to be right.

We ran a variety of cranks, plastics and spinners in a variety of depths. Weeds were not plentiful and in shallows mostly. Nothing of note, structure wise, was on the scope I saw. Depths went well over 20 feet and shoreline drops to a fast 10 foot plus. Shore fishing is supposed to be good as a result.

I finally picked up a smallie of little size on a worm to break the ice. My son in law switched to a crankbait the guy had said he had luck with. A bluegill imitation fat free shad. He picked up a nice walleye and a smallie. As usual ,with all the junk I buy, I didn't have one. It proves what this site is all about. Guys passing along tips to fellow anglers. See our home page  and lake reports pagefor comments and tips of this nature and I hope you will send us a fishing report to add here for fellow anglers.
