Bass Chasin in Ohio report for Findley Lake
We fished this lake both Saturday Oct 13 and Oct 20 with good results. Working most of all the shorelines with the onset of cooler weather and water temperatures.
If you don't know this lake most of the area near the public ramp is shallow in the 5-6 foot range. We got out late both days and both days started slow with small fish which are why this is a slot lake. On the 13th ,much to my surprise, in the mouth of one coves I picked up one nice bass that hit the scale at 3 pounds and measured out at 18 inches. See photo A quality fish for northern Ohio in a lake not noted for the size of it's fish. It hit a series # 3 crankbait from Strike King mentioned on our fish cheaper page. I had gone to it to stay off the bottom yet get under the leaves floating on the surface. Both of us caught several other small bass that day in heavy winds.
The 20th I spent from after 2:00 to 6:00 before getting my first bass off the point by the dam on a bass imitation Strike King Pro line crankbait. I worked him off a slope running into about 12-15 feet. This one also was a quality fish at 2.5 pounds and 17 inches. Photo's will be posted when developed since we had the camera along and both fish will be there for next year for someone else to enjoy. That day my son-in-law added three more as well. See lake reports for additional reports on Findley.
While this will never be a favorite lake of mine it's close to home and it has produced some nice fish over the years. Years ago, my biggest ever, a 7 pounder at 22 inches. Quite a memory!
