Hello,
My name is Steve and I am 36. I have been fishing in NE Ohio since I
was 5. I grew up in Brunswick and now
live in North Olmsted. My life, like yours, is for fishing. Everything
that is done is to make time for fishing.
The lakes that I have regularly fished, at one time or presently,
include La Due, Findley (which is incorrectly spelled
at your site) Hinckley, Spencer (also incorrectly spelled), the old
Wellington North Reservoir (drained), and Wellington
Upground Reservoir. These lakes I am rather intimate with including
having their topo maps memorized (no kidding).
Other lakes that I have fished include Judges Lake and Ledge Lake in
the Hinckley Lake area of the Metro Parks,
Oberlin Reservoir, Old Oberlin Reservoir, the pond at South Park in
North Ridgeville, Rocky River, Camden Lake,
and Medina Reservoir.
My latest addition to my list is the new pier in Avon Lake on Lake
Erie. Starting the first week in March for the past
2 years I have been catching nice 3-5 pound steelhead just casting
Mann's Stretch 10+'s and Daredevil Copycat spoons
from the end of the pier, catching my seasonal 2 fish limit in as little
as 15 minutes.
Though I do very well catching fish once I have found them, I still
have difficulty finding them on a regular basis. I have
read countless years worth of Ohio Fisherman, Fishing Facts, Bassmaster
Magazine, and NAFC's magazine. I have seen
all of the shows and videos that you have. Still I find very little
about fishing in the type of waters that I fish. Yet I know there are
big fish in them.
I usually persue largemouths but I will fish for whatever I find. I
prefer bluegills, crappies, perch, walleyes, and steelhead for eating. I
release almost all of the bass that I catch.
Well, there is some info on my background. My purpose for writing is
that I have always wanted to contribute to a fishing
magazine. This site is perfect for people like us (our area) and I would
love to contribute to it. I can provide info about these bodies of water
since I always attempt to find out all I can. I regularly talk with
ODOWL personnel at the Sportsman show about the bodies of water that I
fish. That is how I found out about the revamp of Spencer Lake in
1985-1986 and what was done, how, and why. I also learned that the
crappie there were put there by fishermen and that the State never
intended for them to be stocked after it was refilled. I can also answer
questions that visitors to the site may have about these lakes.
I bought a rowboat 2 years ago, not using it until last year (I
previously rented). Now I am able to peruse Wellington Upground once
again as before. I will be able to collect even more info with my LCG
depth finder like I did at Findley last year. I am always learning
something new.
As you can see I like to type as well. Maybe that is rambling, I'm
not sure. Anyways, I believe I could be utilized in at least several
ways, however you would see fit. I look forward to your reply.
Oh, I am also the Father of a 15 year old son who is into fishing as
much as I am, and 2 daughters that are getting more and more interested
in fishing every year. They are 12 and 10 years old.
Ok, that should be enough reading for one day, eh?
Take care,
Steve
